NUS Social Entrepreneurship Experience and Development (SEED) Programme '12

1st May 2012

Calling all Youths!

Welcome to SEED Programme'12!

SEED stands for Social Entrepreneurship Experience and Development Programme, and as the name suggests, this is a breakthrough initiative where you get to learn more about Social Entrepreneurship in Singapore through first-hand experience, and develop your understanding of social enterprises!

Open to youths from junior colleges, polytechnics, universities and post-graduates in Singapore, this programme seeks out enthusiastic, motivated and fun-loving youths with a keen learning attitude and who can commit fully to the SEED programme this summer holidays!

Programme
1) 11 June – One day TOUR to social enterprises in Singapore
2) 12 June – 20 July – A one week INTERNSHIP with a social enterprise will be held within this period (Flexible timings)
3) 28 July – Consolidation Workshop and Dry-run for the final day conference
4) 31 July (Evening) – Final CONFERENCE

TOUR
The SEED programme kickstarts with a sponsored full day event, a morning of briefing and sharing sessions to introduce participants to the concept of social enterprises and how it is played out in Singapore. This will be followed by a tour to various social enterprises in Singapore to provide participants with a peek into the real scene! The day ends with a set dinner at Social Enterprise - Eighteen Chefs, and culminates in an interactive workshop to consolidate your learning for the day.

INTERNSHIP
Armed with basic knowledge about social enterprises, students will then participate in a one-week internship in groups of 3 to 5 to various social enterprises! For example, participants get to work in organizations like Eighteen Chefs, Clay-street and SelfSpark! (Refer to the poster for all the Social Enterprises.) Participants will be involved in day-to-day operations and get a better understanding of what the social enterprises really do.

(Please note there will be no allowance for the internship since the true spirit of this programme is to gain knowledge and experience! In addition, the programme costs are fully sponsored for you too. However, if you see the value and potential of a long-term internship with that Social Enterprise, this short stint is a great way to start!)

CONFERENCE
At the end of the internship, participants will consolidate their learning with a 10-min presentation for the final day conference. You are now an Ambassador of the Social Enterprise which you have interned for. You are encouraged to give genuine thoughts, learning points and feedback based on your experiences. The Conference will be attended by a 150pax public audience, and graced by Ministers, VIPs from Social Enterprise Organisations and Social Entrepreneurs.

SO, If you are interested about social entrepreneurship, and are looking for something fun and meaningful this holidays, we want you!

Sign up now at http://bit.ly/NUS-SEED12

Application deadline: 25th May 2012
No of Vacancies: 50
You will be notified of your application results by 1st week of June.
