CityCare is a not-for-profit organisation that believes in helping people to help others. We aim to effect positive transformation in society by developing active citizens with a heart for the community.
By means of EDUCATION, ENCOURAGEMENT and EMPOWERMENT, CityCare provides volunteering opportunities for organisations and individuals to genuinely care and demonstrate social responsibility towards the good of the community.
CityCare programs are built on three foundational E’s:
- Educate participants on the pressing needs in our community
- Encourage self-discovery and personal development through hands-on participation
- Empower organisations and individuals to make a difference in the community
The CityCare strategy has two main thrusts:
1. Youth Volunteerism
2. Corporate Philanthropy
CityCare believes that volunteers must move beyond just lending a helping hand to helping from the heart. Only then would they become social change-agent and life-long volunteers.
To this end, CityCare has designed 4 series of experiential learning programmes, The NEW SINGAPOREAN, The Leader in You, The BIG IDEA and DARE.
CityCare believes that as an integral part of the community, the business sector can make a sustainable and productive contribution to effect positive transformation in society through forging ongoing, synergistic partnerships with the not-for-profit sector.
We provide an avenue for companies to participate in the expression of their CSR values through the Corporate Strategic Philanthropy platform, connecting with the community in ever more meaningful way
There are approximately 150 million rural households in China with school-age children, or about 80% of the country’s primary/junior-middle school population. A major challenge these schoolchildren face is a lack of proper facilities to attend classes in.
CityCare seeks to improve the lives of these underprivileged schoolchildren in developing countries.
Through volunteer labour and monetary donations, CityCare aids in the construction of school buildings in various parts of rural China, as well as conduct cultural and educational exchange programs such as English summer camps and the Spelling Bee competitions.
To date, CityCare, together with its partners, have built six primary schools.
In total, CityCare has conducted its training courses in 40 schools, collaborated on social projects with 22 corporate partners and served 45 voluntary welfare organisations. It has touched the lives of 3,309 beneficiaries and recruited 697 volunteers.
Besides volunteer projects, volunteers can also join us as part-time trainers in which they will be involved in educating and empowering youth through our curriculum. Volunteers are required to attend three 2-hour training sessions and participate in the actual teaching lessons for at least 5 weeks.
Volunteers can also take part in our overseas expedition, inclusive of preparation; will only require 1 – 2 weeks of your time.
If you are interested to participate in our projects, you can contact our NUS Representative, Howard Kuay at howard.kuay@gmail.com or CityCare Volunteer Management Executive, Alexis Fan at fanyuzhen@citycare.org.sg.
