Clementi Students Care Service (SCS) is a voluntary social work organization founded in 1976. It is registered with the Registry of Societies (ROS) and Commissioner of Charities (COC). We are also affiliated to the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and part-funded by Community Chest. Clementi SCS provides social work and educational psychology services to students and their families so as to allow every student to reach their maximum potential in their teenage years.
Currently, NUS volunteers are involved in these 3 main programs such as:- Befriending
- Read-With-Me
- Tuition Program

Befriending is a year-long program where volunteers will be matched 1 to 1 accordingly to a befriendee as we will provide companionship, leadership and establish a good friendship between the befrienders and the befriendees.
This is the time where volunteers will be role-models to the youths and allow them to feel appreciated and respected as an individual. Our main aim is to let the befriendees learn how to make the right decisions in life and take up responsibilities to shine as a youth adult in times to come.
The program will be on every Tuesday 7pm-9pm and it will be on halt during the examinations period for both the youths and the volunteers.
The Read-With-Me program runs for about 10 weeks in the semester where we deals with primary and pre-primary school children who are having difficulties with the reading and understanding of words. The main aim is to develop fluency and linguistic ability who can have fun while reading with the volunteers.
The program will be on every Saturday 10am-12noon and likewise the program will halt 2 weeks before the examinations.
The Tuition Program allows students from lower-income families who are academically weak to have a chance at reviewing their school work without needing a tutor. This is where volunteers step in and tutor them on a 1 to 1 basis so as to give them the full attention that they need. Other than assisting the youths with the educational difficulties, we also will be their friends and mentors where a strong sense of trust will be developed after the long-term commitment in this program.
The program will be on a flexible timing having 1 session per week where volunteers can actually arrange a suitable timeslot with the youth and start the tuition within the centre itself.
