CSC Day is an event where all volunteers in the different arms of CSC come together and interact with beneficiaries and other volunteers from our various Regular Volunteering Programmes (RVPs) and Special Projects (SPs). In the process of meeting each other, the objective of CSC Day is to make sure both parties enjoy their time together to the fullest on this day. This project also aims to let our volunteers gain a better insight into our RVPs and SPs, bridge the gap between the different sectors of volunteering in our club, laying down the path to more cohesiveness and a closely-knit CSC family.
Project Directors Michelle Li and Ho Hyan Hui, together with their young but promising organizing committee, did a wonderful job in bringing in residents of Yishun Home (Children), Sunlove and Mindville (Intellectually Disabled), St. Vincent and L’derly Befrienders (Senior Citizens), along with CSC volunteers to participate in the day’s event. The residents and volunteers were divided into groups to participate in the various station games which were all part of the overall Lion King- themed event. To kick start the interesting station games, the Games Station ICs put up a lively skit for all. The event ended at a high note where all volunteers and beneficiaries participated in the Hokey Pokey Dance to the lively tune of Tigger Bounce. It was especially heart-warming to see everyone, volunteers and participants, dancing together in tandem, and this was perhaps the best reflection of the spirit that CSC Day had set out to forge.
Elderly who spent most of their time alone in their flats, the residents like those in Mindsville who were out of touch with the outside world staying in their Homes were just some of the people whom the very ordinary youths in CSC touched just by coming down to be there for them, just for that very few short hours. People usually cannot understand the impact of just being there for others can be, especially for those in need of them, but we do. This is where CSC Day fits into the picture.
