History

Ethelontêr made its debut appearance in June 2004. The camp was named Ethelontêr, meaning "Spirit of a Volunteerism" in Greek. Over the past 4 years, Ethelontêr has become one of the club's most crucial projects because a substantial number of freshmen and councillors go on to serve the community through participating in the club's regular volunteering programmes (RVPs) and special projects (SPs).

Ethelontêr IV

Preparation work started in January 2007 with Project Director Fred Ong, flanked by his 3 assistant project directors, Tan Tiong Wei, Christine Hu and Tan Ching finished recruiting their relatively huge organizing committee. For half a year, the organizing committee secured Eusoff Hall as the main lodging for the camp, came out with a score of publicity materials, sourced for numerous sponsorships for goodie bags, gathered hundreds of contacts from potential freshmen and perfected the 9 major programmes that would make up the camp. These 9 programmes are our flagship orientation programmes that would serve as such memorable keepsakes in the minds of the freshmen as well as the councillors.

The spirit of Ethelontêr IV was a remarkable one, with many freshies with a sincere heart for volunteering joining us this time around. We do welcome them into CSC with open arms, and all of us are very glad to see the many familiar faces at post-Ethelontêr events like Paint-a-home and Project C.A.N. Besides infusing new blood into our club, Ethelontêr is more than that. All the emotional highs, the shagness, the sunburnt skin with crap voices, the hugs at the end of it all, the outpourings of how-long-did-you-sleep and the post-camp chalets and mass outings. Its more than a camp, it's a really special project that bonds us all.
