Signature Love Project is NUSCSC’s annual fund-raising project, targeted at helping different beneficiary every year. However, what makes NUSCSC’s Signature Love Project different from other fund-raising projects are the Signatures and our Love. Signatures, collected from our donors, are presented to the respective beneficiaries as a token of our Love and concern for them. Not only do we strive to raise as much as we can for them, we also strive to promote interaction between our volunteers and our beneficiaries. We endeavour to bring a difference to the lives of the beneficiaries not only through the sum we raise for them, but more importantly through the experience and smiles we bring to them via the interactive activities that we plan and organise for them.
The beneficiary for Signature Love Project 2008 was the needy heart patients under Singapore Heart Foundation’s (SHF) Heart Support Fund. Project Directors Koh Shiyun, Denise Seow and Lim Yun Cai, along with the Organising Committee of 19, decided to try something new and fresh for Signature Love Project 2008. It was a bold step and a big deviation from what the previous four Signature Love Projects had done! On top of the normal collection of $2 at the various faculty grounds for the exchange of encouragement and well wishes for their beneficiary, there was the addition of their ABC.
A for Amazing Race. It was a historical moment as this was NUSCSC’s first fund-raising Amazing Race. This “10,000 Steps” Heart Challenge was held in conjunction with the SHF’s drive to emphasize a healthy lifestyle for a healthy heart. 10 engaging and interesting stations were strewed across NUS Bukit Timah Campus and Singapore Botanic Gardens and participants had to compete to complete the race in the shortest time.
B for Beneficiary Walk. A walk around the scenic Singapore Botanic Gardens was organised to provide an avenue of interaction with the beneficiary, so that the volunteers could have a chance to understand and get to know who they were helping.
C for Carnival. A mini carnival was set up at the starting/ending point of the Amazing Race. Various NUS performing groups graced the occasion. There was even a SATA booth offering free medical checkups! Volunteers and participants alike enjoyed themselves at the games-cum-photo-printing booth.
Signature Love Project 2008 was a success, all thanks to the hard work of the Organizing Committee and also the volunteers! See you again next year! (:
